When Paula Fanua was born about 1884, in Lofanga, Ha'apai, Tonga, his father, Heamasi Fanua, was 14 and his mother, Alelia Vea, was 32. He married Pulei about 1905. He died in 1962, at the age of 79, and was buried in Tonga.
