1875 · A Treaty with Hawaii

In the Mid 1870s, The United States sought out the Kingdom of Hawaii to make a free trade agreement. The Treaty gave the Hawaiians access to the United States agricultural markets and it gave the United States a part of land which later became Pearl Harbor.

1876 · Segregation Laws Are Passed

A new state constitution was passed in 1876, announcing the segregation of schools.

1881 · Construction of the Fort Worth & Denver Railway

Age 6

Grenville M. Dodge oversaw the construction of the Fort Worth & Denver Railway. Work began at Hodge Junction, and eventually extended to the New Mexico border by 1888. Service began on April 1, 1888, with trains travelling between Fort Worth and Denver.

History: The Pendleton family were established in Caroline County, VA, by Philip Pendleton, a schoolmaster from Norwich, England, who immigrated to North America in 1682.
