    History: Jean Guyon du Buisson from Tourouvre in Orne, France, was one of the earliest settlers on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River in New France. He arrived together with his large family in 1634, and is said to be an ancestor of at least three out of four Québécois. Among the surnames borne by his descendants are his surname Guyon and its various altered forms, including Deo(n), Deyo, Dion, Yéon, Yon, and Young, and also the dit (‘also called’) names Darbonne and Dumontier , adopted as a surname by two of his grandsons, and the dit name Lemoine , adopted by another descendant. — This surname is listed in the register of Huguenot ancestors recognized by the Huguenot Society of America. As a Huguenot ancestor is listed Jacques Guyon, who was in NY by 1680. However, his descendants bear only an altered form of the surname, Gue .
