When Mats Matsson was born on 17 August 1735, in Uppsala, Sweden, his father, Matts Eriksson, was 35 and his mother, Kerstin Eriksdotter, was 36. He married Barbro Persdotter on 23 March 1766, in Hållnäs, Uppsala, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. He died on 9 May 1799, in his hometown, at the age of 63, and was buried in Uppsala, Sweden.
