When Gabriel Walser was born on 18 May 1695, in Wolfhalden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland, his father, Gabriel Walser, was 40 and his mother, Catherine Zellweger, was 40. He married Elisabeth Zollikofer on 28 January 1718. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 9 daughters. He died on 29 April 1776, in Berneck, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, at the age of 80.
