Torkjel Johannesson Tøsse was born in 1808, in Tysse, Hosanger, Hordaland, Norway as the son of Johannes Ingebrigtson and Kristi Tolleivsdotter. He married Guro Sjursdotter Bjelland in 1839, in Skånevik, Hordaland, Norway. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 3 daughters. He died in 1846, in his hometown, at the age of 38.
