When James Watts was born on 13 September 1802, in Alstead, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States, his father, Isaac Watts, was 35 and his mother, Temperance Cannon, was 36. He married Mary Ann Willis on 18 May 1836, in Portage, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Independence Township, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States in 1850. He died on 17 February 1856, in Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States, at the age of 53, and was buried in Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States.
