He married Nive on 15 August 1934, in Lotofaga, Tuamasaga, Upolu, Samoa. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died in August 2003, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, at the age of 68, and was buried in Vaigaga, Samoa.
