He married America Crawford on 12 December 1854, in Breathitt, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 7 daughters. He died on 14 September 1878, in Laurel, Kentucky, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Bowling Cemetery, East Bernstadt, Laurel, Kentucky, United States.

1825 · The Crimes Act
The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
1830 · Louisville and Portland Canal Opens
The Louisville and Portland canal opened in 1830. It was a 2 mile canal. It helped with the barrier caused by the Falls of the Ohio River at Louisville by making a route around them.
