When William Dalrymple was born in 1736, in New Luce, Wigtownshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, his father, William Dalrymple, was 35 and his mother, Marion Johnston, was 34. He married Agnes Mcclellan on 9 December 1773. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He died on 4 November 1816, at the age of 80.
