Name Meaning

English: habitational name from a lost place called with Old English flēot ‘stream, estuary’ + wudu ‘wood’, possibly in or near Kirkby in Walton, Lancashire. The existing Fleetwood, Lancashire acquired its name in the 19th century from its founder, Sir Peter Hesketh Fleetwood, and is not the source of the surname.
