When Jakob Flükiger was born on 13 July 1814, in Rohrbachgraben, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Jakob Friedrich Flükiger, was 30 and his mother, Anna Barbara Haueter, was 24. He married Rosina Horisberger on 25 January 1839. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 22 June 1868, in Bern, Switzerland, at the age of 53, and was buried in Lotzwil, Bern, Switzerland.
