When Lambert Jans Hartman was born on 18 October 1772, in Hoogeveen, Drenthe, Netherlands, his father, Jan Lamberts Hartman, was 24 and his mother, Margje Jurjens Bakmeijer, was 22. He married Jentje Jans Blokzijl about 1801, in Hoogeveen, Drenthe, Netherlands. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 23 March 1847, in his hometown, at the age of 74.
