When Olof Gummesson was born on 4 May 1735, in Linneryd, Kronoberg, Sweden, his father, Gudmund Mattesson, was 24 and his mother, Kerstin Gunnarsdotter, was 30. He married Ingrid Månsdotter on 12 April 1758, in Nöbbele, Kronoberg, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 24 March 1783, in Öljeholm, Kronoberg, Sweden, at the age of 47.
