When Jedediah Meader was born on 26 December 1775, in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire, British Colonial America, his father, Nathaniel Meader, was 34 and his mother, Mary Hanson, was 25. He married Hannah Estes on 28 April 1807. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Rochester, Strafford, New Hampshire, United States for about 10 years. He died on 9 February 1866, at the age of 90.

The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
