When Margaret Kernaghan was born in 1848, in Ireland, her father, William Kernahen, was 29 and her mother, Margaret Leinster, was 29. She married John Meharg in 1870, in Newry, County Down, Ireland. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 4 daughters. She died on 22 September 1923, in New South Wales, Australia, at the age of 75.
