Manase Le Mamea was born on 2 March 1859, in Matautu, Tuamasaga, Upolu, Samoa. He married Ema Matalavea in 1883, in Safune, Samoa. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 13 July 1928, at the age of 69.
