When Ituau Asiata was born about 1908, in Satupa'itea, Savai'i, Samoa, her father, Asiata Talavai Faaofo Taala, was 29 and her mother, Paepae Tuato, was 31. She married Soma Leaoa about 1932. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. She died on 5 June 1983, at the age of 76, and was buried in Satupa'itea, Savai'i, Samoa.
