He married Britha Christensdr on 13 October 1758, in Luster, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 4 June 1797, at the age of 61, and was buried in Saude, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
