When Arngrímur Jónsson was born in 1568, in Melstaður, Vestur-Húnavatnssýsla, Northwest, Iceland, his father, Jon Vidalin Jonsson, was 39 and his mother, Ingibjorg Loftsdottir, was 35. He married Solveig Gunnarsdottir in 1598. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 27 June 1648, in his hometown, at the age of 80.
