When Christian Brunner was born on 26 December 1803, in St. Peterzell, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, his father, Ulrich Brunner, was 27 and his mother, Ana Chatrina, was 29. He married Verena Baumann on 3 April 1834, in St. Peterzell, Neckertal, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 7 daughters. He died on 19 April 1857, at the age of 53, and was buried in Mogelsberg, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland.
