When John A. Willis was born in 1828, in Kentucky, United States, his father, Robert Willis, was 33 and his mother, Bethania Bostic Barner, was 26. He married Mary Amanda Williams Tabor on 6 July 1847, in De Soto, Louisiana, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 daughters. He lived in Caddo, Louisiana, United States for about 10 years and Louisiana, United States in 1870. He died on 20 October 1896, in Arkansas, United States, at the age of 68.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.

1830 · Louisville and Portland Canal Opens

The Louisville and Portland canal opened in 1830. It was a 2 mile canal. It helped with the barrier caused by the Falls of the Ohio River at Louisville by making a route around them.
