When Lucy Deane was born on 7 October 1796, in Albemarle Parish, Sussex, Virginia, United States, her father, Lt Thomas Aaron Dean, was 29 and her mother, Lucy Ezell, was 29. She married Niniam Steel on 26 April 1819, in Christian, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters. She lived in Pettis Township, Platte, Missouri, United States in 1850. She died on 2 January 1875, in Cooper, Missouri, United States, at the age of 78.

The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
