When Sarah Jane Tilton was born in 1791, her father, John Tilton Sr, was 35 and her mother, Mariah "Mary" Sutphen, was 24. She married Nathaniel McDowell on 8 December 1808, in Washington, Pennsylvania, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 2 daughters. She died on 18 September 1828, in Ohio, United States, at the age of 37, and was buried in Massillon, Stark, Ohio, United States.

After the Constitution was made, some objections were raised by Anti-Federalists. So, in response ten amendments were discussed and voted on to become The Bill of Rights. These rights were made to clarify and guarantee certain freedoms of residents of the country.
