When Deborah Tilton was born in 1797, in Pennsylvania, United States, her father, John Tilton Sr, was 41 and her mother, Mariah "Mary" Sutphen, was 30. She married James Kilgore on 4 October 1821, in Wayne, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 6 daughters. She lived in Orange Township, Ashland, Ohio, United States for about 20 years. She died in 1879, at the age of 82, and was buried in Nankin, Orange Township, Ashland, Ohio, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

1812 · Harrisburg Becomes the State Capital

Harrisburg had important parts with migration, the Civil War, and the Industrial Revolution. 

1819 · Panic! of 1819

With the Aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars the global market for trade was down. During this time, America had its first financial crisis and it lasted for only two years. 

Name Meaning

English (Berkshire and Lancashire): habitational name from Tilton in Leicestershire, named with the Old English personal name Tila, Tilla + Old English tūn ‘farmstead, settlement’.

History: William Tilton came to Lynn, MA, in or before 1637. Many of his descendants were master mariners, living on Martha's Vineyard. James Tilton of DE (1745–1822) was a physician who became US surgeon general.
