He married Brita Svensdotter on 25 May 1822, in Bottnaryd, Jönköping, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. He died on 21 December 1875, in his hometown, at the age of 82, and was buried in Bottnaryd, Jönköping, Sweden.
