He married Mele Laupala Mailau about 1899, in Kolonga, Tongatapu, Tonga. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 7 daughters. He died on 22 January 1923, in Kolonga, Tongatapu, Tonga, at the age of 40, and was buried in Kolonga, Tongatapu, Tonga.
