When John Calbreath, Jr. was born about 1798, in Augusta, Virginia, United States, his father, John Calbreath, Sr., was 36 and his mother, Elizabeth Hamilton, was 36. He married Sarah Ann Foulks on 24 November 1819, in St. Clair, Illinois, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 1 February 1850, at the age of 53, and was buried in St. Louis, St. Louis, Missouri, United States.

The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
