When Thomas Leland Jr was born on 5 August 1784, in Grafton, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Thomas Leland, was 23 and his mother, Lydia Sherman, was 21. He married Cynthia Brown Hastings on 2 October 1816. They were the parents of at least 2 sons. He died on 3 March 1849, in Claremont, Sullivan, New Hampshire, United States, at the age of 64, and was buried in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Claremont, Sullivan, New Hampshire, United States.

1786 · Shays' Rebellion

Caused by war veteran Daniel Shays, Shays' Rebellion was to protest economic and civil rights injustices that he and other farmers were seeing after the Revolutionary War. Because of the Rebellion it opened the eyes of the governing officials that the Articles of Confederation needed a reform. The Rebellion served as a guardrail when helping reform the United States Constitution.
