He died on 11 August 1937, in Wisconsin, United States, at the age of 37, and was buried in East Pine River Cemetery, Yuba, Richland, Wisconsin, United States.

habitational name from any of various places called Stockwell, including Stockwell in Lambeth (Surrey) and Stockwell in Cowley (Gloucestershire), from Old English stocc ‘tree trunk, stump’ + wella ‘well, spring, stream’.
perhaps sometimes in northern England a variant of Stockill, a habitational name from Stockeld in Spofforth (Worth Yorkshire) and perhaps also Stockheld Grange in Barwick in Elmet (Yorkshire). The placenames derive from Old English stocc ‘tree trunk, stump’ + helde ‘slope’.
