When Jack Petersen was born on 31 March 1925, in Paeroa, Waikato, New Zealand, his father, Johannes Petersen, was 39 and his mother, Hettie Ella May de Farelle, was 24. He married Thelma Irene Mary Jensen on 9 April 1949, in Whakatāne, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. He died on 14 May 2007, in Rotorua, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, at the age of 82, and was buried in Kauae Cemetery, Ngongotahā, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
