When Lena van der Burg was born on 25 December 1831, in Holland, Netherlands, her father, Jacob van der Burg, was 26 and her mother, Jacoba de Bruin, was 26. She married Willem Schaaij on 2 March 1854, in Brielle, South Holland, Netherlands. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 8 daughters. She died on 7 October 1887, at the age of 55.
