Name Meaning

German and Swiss German: from a short form of an ancient Germanic personal name derived from Gothic hrukjan ‘to crow’ or related to Middle High German rōhen ‘to roar, cry (in battle)’, probably originally a byname for a warrior (as the name may also be cognate with Gothic hrotheigs ‘victorious’).
