When Endre Jonsson Slåkje was born about 1742, in Kvinnherad, Hordaland, Norway, his father, Jon Tjerandsson Slaakje, was 59 and his mother, Brita Johannesdatter, was 45. He married Gjær Eriksdatter Åkre in 1774. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 1 daughter. He died in 1836, in Åkra, Skånevik, Hordaland, Norway, at the age of 95.
