When Rosetta Waterson was born on 10 October 1865, in Greytown, Wellington, New Zealand, her father, John Waterson, was 33 and her mother, Rosetta Mary Burling, was 31. She married William James Thomas in 1886, in New Zealand. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. She died on 16 October 1932, in Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand, at the age of 67, and was buried in Stratford, Taranaki, New Zealand.

1887 · New Zealands's First National Park
Tongariro National Park was the sixth national park established in the world and the first in New Zealand. In the center of the park there lies three active volcanic mountains (Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe, and Tongariro). it is home to the famed Tongariro Alpine Crossing day hike and has been recognized as a World Heritage Site for all its natural values.
