When Francis Xavier Loughery was born in February 1844, in County Donegal, Ireland, his father, John Joseph Loughery, was 52 and his mother, Margaret Kelly, was 48. He married Lydia Holmes Kimball on 12 June 1875, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons. He lived in Santa Rosa Judicial Township, Sonoma, California, United States in 1900 and Santa Rosa, Sonoma, California, United States in 1910. He died on 21 July 1912, in Stockton, San Joaquin, California, United States, at the age of 68, and was buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, San Mateo, California, United States.
