He married Marietta Wiggins on 16 November 1869, in Tippecanoe, Indiana, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He lived in Wabash Township, Tippecanoe, Indiana, United States in 1880 and Center Township, Kiowa, Kansas, United States for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 1865. He died on 5 December 1935, in Greensburg, Kiowa, Kansas, United States, at the age of 91, and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg, Kiowa, Kansas, United States.

Caused by many crimes and breaking the Tenure of Office Act, Many Senators and House Representatives became angry with President Johnson and began discussions of his Impeachment. After a special session of Congress, the Articles of Impeachment were approved by the House and then the Senate. Making Andrew Johnson the first President to be Impeached.
