When John Hicks was born on 4 August 1768, in New York Colony, British Colonial America, his father, Joshua Hicks, was 32 and his mother, Elizabeth Bacon, was 26. He married Elizabeth Butts on 21 January 1790, in Pawlet, Rutland, Vermont, United States. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Sutton, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States in 1764. He died on 6 October 1845, in Patriot, Posey Township, Switzerland, Indiana, United States, at the age of 77, and was buried in Patriot, Dearborn, Indiana, United States.
