    Name Meaning

From Latin amabilis ‘lovable’ via Old French. Although now very rare in the English-speaking world, this name lies behind the much commoner name Annabel and also Mabel . It gained some currency from being borne by the character Amabel Rose Adams in Angela Thirkell's Barsetshire Chronicles ( 1933 onwards).
