He married Esther Hetherington on 14 September 1863, in Haldimand, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in North Cayuga, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada in 1871 and Cayuga, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada in 1881. He died on 8 June 1898, at the age of 62.
