When Fermín Merio Arayz was born in 1642, in Etxarri Aranatz, Nafarroa, Spain, his father, Juanes Merio Artieda, was 38 and his mother, Marina de Arayz Lizarraga, was 30. He married María Martina Erdocia on 10 July 1673, in Santa María, Etxarri Aranatz, Nafarroa, Spain. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 21 November 1699, in his hometown, at the age of 57.
