When Christen Nielsen Plougman was born on 8 November 1836, in Rakkeby, Dueholm, Denmark, his father, Niels Andersen Plougmann, was 28 and his mother, Zidsel Marie Christensdatter Boel, was 29. He married Ane Jacobsen on 6 December 1878, in Thisted, Ørum, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 5 daughters. He lived in Selde, Nørre, Viborg, Denmark for about 26 years. He died on 21 October 1914, in Selde, Skivehus, Denmark, at the age of 77, and was buried in Selde, Skivehus, Denmark.

The Casino Theatre was built as an entertainment center by Georg Carstensen but was converted into a theatre in 1848. After many years of never gaining popularity, it was closed in 1937 and demolished in 1960.
