He died on 13 March 1879, in Elgin, Rideau Lakes Township, Leeds and Grenville, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 76, and was buried in Halladay Burial Place, Elgin, Rideau Lakes Township, Leeds and Grenville, Ontario, Canada.
