When William Pleasant Wight was born on 27 September 1866, in Pierce City, Lawrence, Missouri, United States, his father, Jason Lee Wight, was 27 and his mother, Mary Jane Witt, was 22. He married Willie Frances Hooker on 28 September 1889. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 18 January 1937, in his hometown, at the age of 70, and was buried in Pierce City Cemetery, Pierce City, Lawrence, Missouri, United States.

1867 · Sorry Mr. President, You can't do that.

This Act was to restrict the power of the President removing certain office holders without approval of the Senate. It denies the President the power to remove any executive officer who had been appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the Senate, unless the Senate approved the removal during the next full session of Congress. The Amendment was later repealed.

1868 · Impeach the President!

Caused by many crimes and breaking the Tenure of Office Act, Many Senators and House Representatives became angry with President Johnson and began discussions of his Impeachment. After a special session of Congress, the Articles of Impeachment were approved by the House and then the Senate. Making Andrew Johnson the first President to be Impeached.

Possibly sometimes a nickname from Middle English wight ‘living creature; small portion or thing’, or from the corresponding Older Scots word wicht.

English: habitational name from the Isle of Wight. The island is recorded as Vectis (its Latin name) c. 150 AD . Its name derives from a British word, perhaps related to Welsh gwaith ‘turn, course’, meaning ‘place of the division’, in reference to the island's position in the Solent.

English and Scottish: variant of White .
