He married Apoline Fortier on 15 January 1839, in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Laval, Quebec, Canada. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 19 August 1870, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 56, and was buried in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
