Basylyus Gyurga was born on 24 December 1878, in Reşiţa, Caraş-Severin, Romania as the son of Florian Gyurga and Johanna Florea. He married Rebecca Abraham about 1905. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States in 1930. He died on 11 July 1953, in San Bernardino, San Bernardino, California, United States, at the age of 74, and was buried in Whittier, Los Angeles, California, United States.

1881 · The Assassination of James Garfield

Garfield was shot twice by Charles J. Guitea at Railroad Station in Washington, D.C. on July 2, 1881. After eleven weeks of intensive and other care Garfield died in Elberon, New Jersey, the second of four presidents to be assassinated, following Abraham Lincoln.

1882 · Cleveland School of Art

Originally called the Western Reserve School of Design for Women, the Cleveland School of Art is a co-educational school that has highlighted its students works in different arts and designs. After World War II, the school began offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and soon after became the Cleveland Institute of Art. The school today offers 17 different artistic programs all year long.

1898 · War with the Spanish

After the explosion of the USS Maine in the Havana Harbor in Cuba, the United States engaged the Spanish in war. The war was fought on two fronts, one in Cuba, which helped gain their independence, and in the Philippines, which helped the US gain another territory for a time.
