It occurs mainly in the counties of Kartuzy (Pomeranian Voivodeship) and Gliwice (Silesian Voivodeship), which were under the influence of the German language. Alternatively, it could be from Polish lilia ‘lily’ or a derivative of lilać ‘to lull, to cradle’.
