When Curtiss Wheeler was born on 7 December 1795, in Southbury, New Haven, Connecticut, United States, his father, Ebenezer Wheeler, was 33 and his mother, Love Curtiss, was 24. He married Mehitable Smith on 1 January 1829. They were the parents of at least 3 sons. He lived in Oxford, New Haven, Connecticut, United States for about 30 years. He died on 24 November 1866, at the age of 70, and was buried in Southford Cemetery, Oxford, New Haven, Connecticut, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
