When Rebecca Braden was born on 24 June 1799, in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States, her father, William Braden Sr, was 29 and her mother, Euphemia Jackson, was 26. She married Dr. James William Lewis on 23 December 1823, in Decatur, Indiana, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 6 daughters. She lived in Union Township, Union, Iowa, United States in 1860 and Villisca, Montgomery, Iowa, United States in 1880. She died on 18 November 1891, in Cantril, Van Buren, Iowa, United States, at the age of 92, and was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Afton, Union, Iowa, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

1812 · Harrisburg Becomes the State Capital

Harrisburg had important parts with migration, the Civil War, and the Industrial Revolution. 

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
