Thomas Matthiesen was born on 28 May 1836, in Ketting, Slesvig, Denmark as the son of Hans Matthiesen. He married Christina Marie Christiansen Hanson on 18 April 1861, in Tandslet, Slesvig, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Wisconsin, United States in 1870 and Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States for about 40 years.

U.S. acquires vast tracts of Mexican territory in wake of Mexican War including California and New Mexico.

1847 · Casino Theatre (Copenhagen)

The Casino Theatre was built as an entertainment center by Georg Carstensen but was converted into a theatre in 1848. After many years of never gaining popularity, it was closed in 1937 and demolished in 1960.

1867 · Sorry Mr. President, You can't do that.

This Act was to restrict the power of the President removing certain office holders without approval of the Senate. It denies the President the power to remove any executive officer who had been appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the Senate, unless the Senate approved the removal during the next full session of Congress. The Amendment was later repealed.
